Sierra Spring Mushroom Foraging

Sierra Morel Hunting & Cooking Demo

Sierra Morel Hunting & Cooking Demo

Join us for a thrilling morel mushroom hunting class in the Sierra foothills led by Steve Conwell, a seasoned forager with over 30 years of experience in the art of mushroom hunting. During this 3-4 hour adventure, Steve will guide you through the process of locating and safely harvesting the elusive morel mushrooms, sharing his knowledge and expertise on the best places to look, the ecology of the area, the ideal growing conditions, and the key identifying features of these prized fungi.

At the end of the class, you'll have the chance to taste some of the delicious morel mushrooms you've harvested, prepared by Steve himself. You'll also receive a field guide to morel mushrooms, along with tips on how to prepare and cook them.

Whether you're a seasoned forager or a curious beginner, this morel mushroom hunting class is an unforgettable way to explore the natural beauty of the Sierra foothills and deepen your connection to the natural world.

Please note: These forays are a bit different than our coastal ones, which focus more on teaching about varieties of mushrooms. These are all about trying to find premium morels and other spring mushrooms! There are no guarantees in mushrooming, but recons will have been done to offer the best opportunities for finding morels.
